Filed under: Scottish Boxing, Amateur Boxing, Commonwealth Games 2006

Forgewood’s Mark Hastie will be the first Scot to enter the Commonwealth Games boxing ring when he takes on Samoa’s Leti Emilio Leti at 1.26pm on Friday afternoon (Australian time).

Later on Friday night Kris Carslaw will face Joe Blackburn of New Zealand and Stevie Simmons is in against Canada’s Gino Nardari.

Saturday afternoon sees Mitch Prince in against Lenny Zappavigna of Australia at 60kg and Kenny Anderson up against Chavis Kora of Papua New Guinea at 81kg.

Saturday evening sees Jason Hastie against Kasito Tsenoli of Lesotho at 57kg and Craig McEwan against Richard Fonua of Tonga at 75kg.

And Fundu Mhuru, who is representing Malawi at the Games at 69kg, has drawn Aaron Thomas of Wales, son of footballer Mickey Thomas.

Melbourne is ten hours ahead of us and the BBC coverage on Friday is from 2am to 11am so expect Mark Hastie to be fighting at 3.26am our time. Set those alarm clocks people! Fundo who is also boxing that afternoon will fight about an hour after Mark.
