Ryan Beverage And Richard Maxwell Get Best Boxers Awards At Garnock Valley Show
Tuesday December 12th 2006 , 1:14 pm
Filed under: Scottish Boxing, Amateur Boxing

Garnock Valley Boxing Club held their annual boxing show in the Walker Hall, Kilbirnie, to a sold out audience who didn’t go home disappointed with our boxers’ display, either it being a fight or an exhibition bout.

Firstly we had wee Conner McDonald making his ring debut against Ross Clementon from Orbistoun. Conner for a first timer boxed superbly and won his first fight on points.

We also had another kid making his ring debut, Ross Grey, who boxed Kyle Ritchie from Argo, and who won, rsc round 1.

Craig Millar made his first appearance back in over a year out the game when he boxed Jamie Kerr from Irvine Vynesburgh, with Jamie winning on points.

Our top of the bill was a cracker where our Ryan Beverage boxed Michael McNeil from the Barn. It was a great scrap as was to be expected from wee Rab’s club. Ryan won that one on points.

Other fights were:
David McNally from Doon Valley boxed Brian Oats from the Wallace, McInally won on points
Sam Russell from the Barn boxed Jordan Marshall from Irvine Vynesburgh, Marshall won on points
Darren Payne from Garnock Valley boxed Billy Gentle from Kirkie, Gentle won on points
Richard Maxwell from Irvine Vynesburgh boxed Colin Telfer from Lakefield, Maxwell won on points
Billy Paterson from Cleland boxed Barry Letham from Kirkie, Paterson won rsc rnd 1

Exhibition bouts:
Alex Harrison from Garnock Valley boxed Dillan Mookan from the Barn
Leslie Payne from Garnock Valley boxed Amanda Johnston from Garnock Valley
Robbie McKechnie from Garnock Valley boxed Michael Jamison from Irvine Vynesburgh
Chris McBain from Garnock Valley boxed Chris Steel from Cleland

Best away boxer was Richard Maxwell from Irvine Vynesburgh
Best home boxer was Ryan Beverage from Garnock Valley

G.V.B.Club wishes all our boxers and to all other clubs out there to keep up the good work and have a Merry Xmas, and all the best for 2007!

Tam Payne
