Two Newarthill boxers won medals at the Scottish Cadet championships on Saturday the 1st of May.
Scott Cairns (15) successfully defended the 48kg 1989 class title he won last year by beating Orbiston ABC's Aaron McKelvie 15-7 at Grangemouth Town Hall.
Clubmate Danny Brown (13) took silver in his Schoolboy 54kg Final at the same venue by narrowly losing out to Four Isles David Brophy in the final that was carried over from Coatbridge Time Capsule last month.
Scott now joins the clubs other two Champions Kris Hughes and Jamie Clark in being selected to represent Scotland at Four Nations tournaments in Liverpool, Cardiff and Cork which will be held in late May and June.
Six other Newarthill boxers were in action on Friday the 30th of April when the club held their annual show in The Club, Newarthill.
Light Flyweight Jamie Clark (13) boxed an exhibition with Leith Victoria ABC's Tommy Philbin, while Light Welter Stevie Caldwell (17) won a majority point decision over Craig Millar from Garnock Valley ABC and Flyweight Kris Hughes (16) won unanimously over the game John Thain of Leith Victoria.
Flyweight John Downie (16) also won unanimously against Lesmahagow's Richard McKenzie and was awarded Best Boxer for his merits.
After a six year ring absence Lightweight Alan French (23) won
unanimously over Mark Chalmers of Glenrothes ABC with heavyweight clubmate Billy Graham (20) losing his bout against Clydeview ABC's Michael McDonagh.
Jamie Clark was awarded Boxer of the Year, Kris Hughes was awarded the Hughie McShane Salver for best Youth Boxer, Danny Brown recieved the Tam Gillies Salver for Best Novice Boxer and John Downie picked up the Dr John Reid Trophy for Endeavour.
