Scott Harrison Signs Six Fight Deal With Sports Network

Scott Harrison has signed a six fight deal with promoters Sports Network manager Frank Maloney announced at a press conference in Glasgow's Marriott Hotel.

His WBO Featherweight title defence against Victor Polo on the 28th of January at the Braehead Arena will be the first of those fights and the contract includes a clause for a fight to be arranged against one of the world's top Featherweights or Super Featherweights.

"The names on the list are Barrera, Injin Chi, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquaio. I've already had positive talks with Barrera's people for the 7th of May and we have also made an excellent offer for Chi to come to Scotland. I'm optimistic Scott will get the super fight this year because that’s what the TV companies want."

It was also announced that undefeated Welterweight Gary Young will now face former European kickboxing champion, Thomas Hengstberger, on the undercard. The Austrian comes to the ring with a professional boxing record of 11 wins and one draw from 15 contests against novices and journeymen. Not quite the test Charlie Shepherd would have provided had their bout gone ahead, but then again you can't imagine that there is an orderly queue of people wanting to take on the hardhitting Edinburgh southpaw.

Tickets to see Harrison v Polo are available from the Braehead Arena on 0870 444 6062
