Scott Harrison looked and sounded every inch a man on a mission at yesterday's press conference at the Phoenix Gym, Dalmarnock ahead of Friday's fight with Victor Polo.
"It is my chance to prove to the world that I am the number one featherweight. Victor Polo is a genuine world-class fighter and I am looking forward to doing a good job on him.
"I have worked on a number of combinations and it just depends on what Victor Polo turns up on the night. If he tries to fight then it is going to be suicide because I am going to knock him out, as simple as that."
Scott also talked about his new contract with Sports Network which guarantees him a "super fight" within six fights against Marco Antonio Barrera, Injin Chi, Juan Manuel Marquez or Manny Pacquiao. "It is in my contract that within six fights I have got to have a big fight or the contract is basically void. Six fights take me up to a year and a half and I would like to have a big fight within the next two or three fights.
"That is what I need and that is what the fans need."
Martin Hannan wrote an excellent article for The Scotland On Sunday based on a feature in Boxing News which asked Scott Harrison's peers just how good he is. Nobody doubted that he was good, but until he gets in with the best nobody knows just how good.
Except the people of Scotland of course.
But first there's Victor Polo to deal with, a boxer of some pedigree but who is not the fighter he was two or three years ago when he was at his prime. Nevertheless, if Scott can stop him it will send a message to the other Featherweights and Super Featherweights that the man from Glasgow really is a serious contender to their thrones.
Tickets to see Scott Harrison defend his WBO World Featherweight title against Victor Polo are available from the Braehead Arena (0870 444 6062) and Morrisons Gym, Swanston St, Dalmarnock (0141 554 7777) priced at £30, £50, £75 and £125.
