Martin McDonagh Turns Professional

Martin McDonagh from Barn ABC in Coabridge is to join the Morrison boxing stable after making the move from the amateur to the professional ranks.

Subject to medicals and British Board Of Boxing Control Approval, Martin will make his pro debut at the Marriott Hotel, Glasgow, on the 1st of April. Top of the bill will hopefully be the rearranged Scottish Super Middleweight title clash between Thomas Cannon and Barry Connell.

McDonagh's amateur career was effectively ended after he boxed an exhibition bout with professional Welterweight Colin McNeil at the Marriott last October when McNeil's original opponent pulled out at the last minute. McDonagh took the fight at an hour's notice to help keep the bill together and received no payment, but received a Sine Die suspension for doing so.
