Irvine Rotary Club will be staging their annual charity boxing show at the Volunteer Rooms in Irvine tomorrow night, with three professional bouts on the card.
Headlining is Billy McClung from nearby Kilmarnock who faces Rumania's Czaba Andras over six rounds at Cruiserweight. Billy has been out of the ring since being stopped by Shane White back in 2002, but had won all three fights prior to that defeat while campaigning at Light Heavyweight.
Another local lad will be making his professional debut at the show. Stevenston's Jamie McIlroy is the second of "The Fighting McIlroys" to turn pro, his older brother George already enjoying a successful five win start to his own career. Lightweight Jamie has been matched against John Paul Ryan, a 33 year old from Northampton who has won just two of 17 contests to date, with two of those defeats coming at the hands of John Simpson and Lee McAllister early in their respective careers. Should be a good test for the Ayrshire youngster.
Also on the bill is Sandy Robb from Nairn who faces John Smith from the West Country, again over six two minute rounds at Light Heavyweight.
