The much anticipated British Super Featherweight title fight between Craig Docherty and Alex Arthur is up in the air following an emergency committee meeting of the British Boxing Board of Control today.
Promoter Barry Hearn had asked to move the date of the above contest from the 18th of March to the 9th of April 2005, but with Alex Arthur's promoters Sports Network unhappy about this change of date, it meant the Board were unable to change the terms of what is a binding binding agreement.
The result is that the contest is once again open to purse bids which close on Friday the 4th March at midday, with the contest scheduled to take place by Saturday the 16th of April. The irony is that if Hearn wins the purse again, April the 9th at the Kelvin Hall may still stand.
A disappointed Tommy Gilmour told Scotland Today, "We bid or Barry bid £11,000 more than Sports Network did so they've got to find a lot more money than we've got to find. And at the end of the day if it means more money for the fighters who are we to complain?"
