Andrew Ferrans Stops Chinnock In Six

Andrew Ferrans further underlined the strength in depth of the Scottish Super Featherweight scene less than 24 hours after Ricky Burns' sensational win over Graham Earl.

The 24 year old from New Cumnock was in Burton On Trent last night to face local favourite, Steve Chinnock, for the British Masters Super Featherweight title.

Both boxers had been out of action for months prior to this bout, but it was Chinnock who looked the rustier of the two fighters with jab after jab missing its intended target.

In contrast, Ferrans was able to catch his opponent time after time and in the fifth put Chinnock down. The Englishman got back up, but after more pressure from Ferrans the referree stopped the fight in the sixth to prevent further injury to Chinnock.
