The ever confident Alex Arthur is so sure he'll beat Glasgow rival Craig Docherty at Meadowbank on the 8th of April that he has promised to run naked along Princes Street if he loses!
"There is no way I can lose this fight now!" Arthur said shortly after making this promise. "In the highly unlikely outcome of Docherty beating me, I will stick by my word and promise to run through Princes Street butt naked the following Saturday morning at 11am."
"To be perfectly honest, I cannot possibly see myself being beaten by the likes of Docherty," he added. "So unfortunately, or luckily, for the people of Edinburgh they will not get to see my bare backside because I will knock him out.
"Docherty's certainly gritty and determined, but he knows that I am the superior fighter in all departments from technical skill and experience to strength and punch power."
Arthur's also pleased that the fight has switched to his own backyard from Glasgow's Kelvin Hall.
"Frank Warren has done a fantastic job in bringing the fight to Edinburgh where I will have home advantage and I will not let him or my fans down."
On the undercard will be Edinburgh Welterweight prospect Gary Young, Coatbridge Super Featherweight Ricky Burns, Edinburgh Bantamweight Scott Flynn and Glasgow Welterweight Colin McNeil.
A word of caution for anyone with a nervous disposition who is thinking of venturing on to Princes Street on the Saturday following the Arthur v Docherty British and Commonwealth Super Featherweight title fight.
In 1998, footballer Bernie Slavin was so sure that Middlesbrough would lose away to Manchester United that he said he would sit naked in a shop window in Middlesbrough's town centre if he was proved wrong. Boro won 3-2.
Tickets for the boxing priced at £75, £50 and £30 are available from the Meadowbank Sports Centre (0131 661 5351) and Morrison's Gym (0141 554 7777). Tickets for Alex Arthur's run along Princes Street, priceless.
